Deleting your data

How to have your conversations and details removed from Hei, and what happens when you ask.

Last updated 16 October 2026

If you only want the messages to stop

You do not need to ask anyone. Reply STOP to a business to stop hearing from it, or STOP ALL to stop hearing from every business on Hei. It takes effect on the next message, with no wait and nobody to convince.

To have your data deleted

Email hello@sayhei.chat from any address, or call +233 50 879 1671, and tell us the phone number you used on WhatsApp. That number is how your data is identified, so we need it to find anything.

We will confirm it is you before deleting anything — usually by messaging that number. This protects you: without the check, anyone who knew your number could erase your order history and the record of what you paid for.

We aim to complete a request within 30 days and will tell you when it is done.

What is deleted

  • Your conversations, and any photos or voice notes in them
  • Your contact record: number, name, and any address or area you gave
  • Any location you shared
  • Your saved basket and unfinished orders

What we have to keep, and why

Records of completed payments and the invoices around them are kept, because Ghanaian tax and accounting law requires a business to be able to show what it sold and what it was paid. We strip your name and number from those records where we can, leaving the amount, the date and the reference.

We would rather tell you this plainly than promise a deletion we cannot legally complete.

If you sell on Hei

Closing a business account deletes its catalogue, flows, staff accounts and conversations. Ask us first if you want an export — once it is gone we cannot get it back. Your customers' rights over their own data are unaffected by your account closing.

If you are not satisfied

You can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission, which supervises us under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). See also our privacy page.
